Malmö Festival - Crafts

The town was decorated with crafts
during the Festival.

Home knitted signs showed us where to go

The statues were dressed up

and even the old King and his horse were decorated.

Malmö Festival - Goodies

One of the main things at the Malmö Festival
is the food.
There are lots of goodies
and food from different countries.

All kinds of colorful candy

Cotton Candy

Fried bananas

We bought donuts

But there was some healthy food too.
Arla (a Dairy) gave out milk and cinnamon rolls.

Malmö Festival - Hair

The polar bear was part of the Malmö Festival

and I saw some other hairy people too.

Polar bears in the streets

I guess it is true

there are polar bears in the streets in Sweden.
Even though it was the hottest day this year in Malmö
I met this bear yesterday when I was downtown.

Haunted

Dallas is haunting me.

Since I came to Malmö I see these ads
everywhere I go,

and yesterday I watched the first episode
of this season
of the old TV series that I used to follow many years ago.

My first day at work

My first day at the office
I didn’t do much more than visit with old friends,
unpack my computer and phone.

The challenge of the day was
to get the tiny SIM card into the iPhone.

I tested the phone camera while waiting for the bus
to take me home in the evening.

The 2012 Swedish Derby

I got here in time for the Swedish Derby
that was run Sunday.

My long lens was very useful.

The final turn

and two horses fighting for the victory

but Bomar won comfortably.

Bomar and Fredrik Johansson are coming back to be celebrated
as the winners of the 2012 Swedish Derby.
Fredrik now has eight victories in this race
and a total of thirteen Derby victories.

Recycling

Swedes are very good at recycling.
This is the recycling area at our apartment.

Everything is separated into different containers,
not like in Dallas where you dump all your recycables
into one big container.

Walking through Malmö

The good part about living in the city
is  that you can walk, bike or take a bus everywhere you want to go.

Saturday morning
I walked from our apartment to my parents apartment
and on the way I stopped to buy a buscard
and cash some money.

It's a pretty nice walk from the apartment to downtown
starting out through one of the parks

past the main library

through the old cemetary

Moving

Thursday 08/09
was the day for our departure.

William's friends came to the airport to say goodbye,
but they looked as happy as ever

until I mentioned the smile on their faces.

Emily and Spöket were waiting in their new bags

and were very calm and quite in the cabin
during the entire journey.

My brother picked us up at the airport in Denmark
and drove us over the bridge to Sweden.

He drove us to the apartment that we are sub-renting and
Charlene was waiting for us.

Emily found a nice spot in the windowsill.
